For Hello Kitty and Sanrio fans, this is the perfect place to visit in Japan! Located in Tama, Tokyo, it's just a 30-minute train ride from central Tokyo. This trip was mainly for our daughter, but it was also our first time visiting, and we were excited for her to meet all the adorable characters. Although we only spent half a day exploring, it was a fantastic experience. Here’s a recap of our day at Sanrio Puroland!
Getting there
Sanrio Puroland is a short five-minute walk from Tama Center Station, which is about 30 minutes from Shinjuku Station on the Keio line. It is also reachable by the Odakyu Line and Tama Monorail.
We arrived at Sanrio Puroland around mid-morning, just as the park was opening, and it wasn’t too crowded. By the way, the train station is absolutely adorable, featuring charming character designs. Getting there is easy, and it’s just a short walk to the main entrance, which is surrounded by food and retail shops.

Exploring Puroland
After entering the park, the staff welcomed us and handed out a pamphlet with a park map and useful information. It’s definitely worth checking out, especially for first-timers like us. Since we hadn’t planned any specific activities—aside from shopping for exclusive merchandise—it helped us get a better idea of what to explore. Even with just half a day, we made the most of our time by visiting some of the park’s key sections. Sanrio Puroland has a variety of themed zones, offering something for everyone, but here’s what we did:
Parades and Shows: We were lucky to see three performances during our visit. The first took place as soon as we entered the park, where characters joyfully danced with children in the Puro Village. Then, we managed to get in to the Kawaii Kabuki Show. And lastly, we enjoyed the Miracle Gift Parade, a vibrant light show with an impressive acrobatics. As one of Sanrio Puroland’s must-see attractions, the Miracle Gift Parade offers a fully immersive, 360-degree musical experience. With talented performers and dazzling lights, it was truly a spectacular show. The characters sing, dance, and radiate pure moments of cuteness, captivating visitors of all ages.
Lady Kitty’s House: We purchased a fast pass for the Hello Kitty zone, one of the park's main highlights. Although it’s a small house, everything inside was incredibly exciting, blending cuteness and style perfectly. At the end of the tour, you can take a special photo with Hello Kitty, dressed in an elegant outfit. My daughter couldn’t stop saying how pretty Hello Kitty looked in her beautiful dress. She was beyond thrilled to meet her! I highly recommend this experience!
The Food at Puroland
One of the highlights of Sanrio Puroland is definitely the food. The theme park offers a delightful selection of Sanrio-themed snacks and meals that are just as adorable as they are tasty. We spent time at the Sanrio Rainbow World Restaurant, which is spacious and colorful. There’s also a wide variety of desserts, ranging from character-themed cakes to ice creams shaped like beloved Sanrio characters.
Half-Day Experience
Even though we only had half a day, Sanrio Puroland was still an amazing experience. We didn’t get to ride or see more attractions due to the long lines, and since we hadn’t purchased the fast pass in advance, we had to be selective. Still, it’s a fantastic destination for fans of all ages to enjoy the whimsical world of Sanrio characters. The park is filled with photo opportunities, delicious treats, and plenty of entertaining shows and attractions. We also had a great time exploring and shopping for exclusive merchandise! :) I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience something uniquely cute in Japan!

Sanrio Puroland feels more like a vibrant, whimsical world than a typical theme park, with a variety of Sanrio-themed stores. If you’re in Tokyo, it’s definitely worth a visit, especially for those with little ones! While it may not be as expansive as Disneyland, the smiles on your child’s face make it a memorable experience. The shows were amazing and definitely the highlight of the day. I highly recommend it for all Hello Kitty fans, regardless of age. Sanrio Puroland is truly one-of-a-kind and should be on your list when visiting Tokyo!
