Our Tried-and-True Essentials

As a mom, I can tell you that the journey from newborn to toddler is filled with both joy and challenges, along with a long list of must-have items. If you're about to create your baby registry, I know it can feel overwhelming with so many options out there. But after three years of motherhood, I want to share my top picks that have been lifesavers since my daughter arrived. These essentials have truly made my life easier and more enjoyable.

Now’s the perfect time to shop! With great deals from places like Amazon and Target, it’s a fantastic opportunity to get these essentials. Investing in these tried-and-true products will not only save you money but also make sure you’re ready as your baby grows.

1. Baby wipes

Every baby is unique, and some might get rashes from certain brands. But for us, Pampers wipes have been our our go-to since day one. They’re gentle, effective, and super versatile—great for everything from cleaning up spills to wiping down toys. Trust me, wipes are a must-have wherever you go. Stock up now, and you’ll be glad you did!

2. Baby Skin Essentials

I’ve tried different brands but we always stick to Cetaphil Baby wash, shampoo and lotion. Since we started using them, my daughter’s skin has never had any issues. They’re gentle enough for newborns but still effective for toddlers. Plus, a little goes a long way, making it a great investment for the long haul!

3. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

On those days when extra hydration is a must, CeraVe has been a staple in our skincare routine. We’ve loved it since my daughter was born, and we still use it today. It’s great for dry skin and suitable for all ages, making it a product that will last for years to come!

4. Hatch Baby Rest Sound Machine

This Hatch sound machine has been a total game-changer for sleep. We have the 1st Gen model, and while it had a recall issue that required us to get a new plug, we used it every day during the newborn and baby phase, and it’s still going strong! My daughter loves using the nightlight whenever we stay at her grandparents' house. With its soothing sounds and built-in nightlight, it’s definitely a smart choice for your registry.

5. Puzzle Mat

A colorful puzzle mat is not only a fun play surface but also provides a cushioned area for your little one to explore safely. We used it for tummy time, crawling, and during those early walking stages. Even now, we keep it next to our daughter’s low-rise bed, so she has a soft place to sit or in case she falls. It’s also really easy to clean—truly a must-have for any baby registry!

6. Baby Proof Guards

As your baby turns into a curious toddler, keeping them safe is super important! Once they start crawling and exploring, baby-proof edge guards can help protect them from sharp corners on furniture. Don’t forget pinch-door guards to keep their fingers safe from slamming doors! They’re easy to install and give you peace of mind as your little one discovers their surroundings. We’ve got these guards on all our sharp-edged furniture and doors!

7. Baby Monitor

This is a must-have for your baby registry! I totally recommend the Baby Owlet if you’re on the hunt for a baby monitor or camera. Even after three years, it still works like new. We’ve got another camera in the house, but we still keep this one in our daughter’s room!

8. Diaper Bag Dispenser

I didn’t realize the Munchkin Arm & Hammer Diaper Bag Dispenser would still be useful after the newborn stage! It’s a small item that’s great to have in your diaper bag or when you’re out, even as your toddlers grow. We still use it, not just for diapering essentials but for other things too, and we keep buying refills—especially for travel. It’s our favorite!

9. Diaper Bag

During my nesting/newborn phase, I found it difficult to carry a traditional diaper bag because I don’t like carrying bulky items. Instead, I opted for this Petunia Pickle Bottom Sling Bag - medium-sized that resembles a diaper bag, and it’s been our go-to ever since, even when we're out at the mall. It holds a lot—personal items, wipes, a foldable potty, and extra clothes.

10. Activity Center

The VTech Ultimate Alphabet Activity Cube is a toy that really lasts beyond toddlerhood. Even my daughter, still loves to explore and play with it. It’s one of those rare toys that grows with them while helping them learn.

11. The Play Kits - Lovevery

Lovevery’s play kits are a great choice! Their toys encourage curiosity and creativity. Each kit is durable and fun, turning learning into an exciting adventure that lasts beyond toddler years. They also help kids stay engaged and learn new skills as they grow.

These items are more than just products; they are essential for daily life, helping us manage the challenges of motherhood. With many sales happening now, it’s a good time to get these must-haves if you haven't yet. Designed to grow with your child, these essentials are worthwhile investments. Please share your favorite items in the comments; I'd love to hear what works for you and your kids!

Happy shopping, mamas!
