Halloween Magic.
I wasn't really into Halloween because I grew up visiting the graves of our deceased relatives and saying prayers for them. But now, I have a toddler and I wanted her to experience Halloween. Last year, she was too young to understand it. But now, at two years old, she's more aware and understands things better.
Halloween Costume Ideas
After watching Disney movies, I bought three outfits for her: Moana, Encanto, and Elsa dresses. Surprisingly, her absolute favorite is the Frozen Elsa dress. We find ourselves watching Frozen on repeat – it's quite endearing to see how she's taken a strong liking to it. To make her experience even more magical, I got her some accessories and her very own stuffed toy, Bruni.
Before Halloween, we attended a Trunk or Treat event nearby. It was noisy, dark, and crowded, which made my daughter uncomfortable. She was a little afraid and hesitant to approach people for treats. The scary costumes also distracted her.
Trick-or-Treating
I decided to take her Trick or Treating on Halloween. It was raining, but we still walked around the neighborhood. She seemed really happy and enjoyed it. Seeing other neighbors and kids asking for treats at each door was fun. Sometimes she didn't want to go, maybe because she was shy or scared. But overall, it was a new experience for her, another first!
I was truly impressed watching her walk with everyone, without taking a break, even when we asked if she wanted to go home. We ended up walking for an hour. She collected a bunch of treats, which I'll probably end up eating most of, haha!
As a new mom, it's natural to feel frustrated when our children don't perform as well as others. But I've come to understand that they're just kids, and they have their fears and so much to learn. What's important is that we're there to support them, not discourage them. When my daughter didn't want to approach our neighbors' doors because of the scary decorations, I understood that it was overwhelming for her. Despite that, we still had a fun Halloween! I'm looking forward to an even better time next year :)
Happy Halloween!
