Halloween Costume Ideas

It’s our third Halloween! My daughter, now three years old, has developed a strong fascination with all things princess. This year, we’ve decided we don’t really need to buy a separate costume since we can simply use her existing dresses and add a few accessories. For moms looking to save on costumes while choosing dresses that can be worn year-round, I highly recommend these options that my toddler loves. If I remember correctly, we’ve had them since last year and are continuously adding to her princess collection. Here are some great costume ideas to celebrate Halloween 2024!

1. Elsa from Frozen
Every little princess loves the enchanting world of Frozen! Dressing up as Elsa sparks fantastic imaginative play. You can easily find beautiful and comfortable costumes for both characters, which can be paired with crowns and accessories. These costumes are perfect not just for Halloween but also for dress-up play all year round! My daughter wore this Elsa dress as her Halloween costume last year, and she still loves it. I recently got her a wig extension, and now she’s completely obsessed!

2. Belle from Beauty and the Beast
Here’s my daughter’s Halloween costume for 2024! The Belle dress is beautiful, and we got it earlier this year. We also bought the accessory set, which arrived in time for trunk-or-treat and trick-or-treat! You can choose between the Belle heel sandals or comfortable regular ones for easier walking while collecting treats!

3. Moana
We live on Moana’s island, so my daughter loves wearing her Moana outfit! It’s a great Halloween costume and perfect for everyday fun. Let your child’s adventurous side show with this Moana costume, which includes accessories too!

4. Mirabel from Encanto
Similar to some of her other dresses, this one is a nightgown, but it can easily double as an all-day dress or costume. This Mirabel dress is lightweight and not bulky, ensuring comfort during playtime. Just pair it with some accessories and sandals, and ready to go!

5. Snow White
Another great option is the Snow White costume! This lightweight nightgown can be worn as a dress too, making it easy to use. Add a headband and a cloak, and have your child carry an apple or put it in their bucket for a great touch!

While there are many options available, these are my recommendations for costumes that my daughter truly enjoys wearing even after Halloween. I prefer to buy versatile pieces that can be used multiple times instead of just for one occasion. You can easily find these options without breaking the bank :)

Fun Activities

Cookie & Haunted House Decorating

Target offers a great variety of themed cookie sets, including a Halloween collection—perfect for holiday fun! When the weather is too cold or rainy for outside activities, cookie decorating is a fun way to celebrate Halloween indoors. It’s easy and keeps kids entertained. We got the haunted house and black cat cookie sets for some creative decorating!

Trick-or-Treating

The big event is trick-or-treating! Kids enjoy dressing up as their favorite characters and collecting candies and treats. It’s a lot of fun for them.

Halloween Crafting

Crafting is a great activity for kids! It helps them concentrate, whether in school or at home. Simple projects like drawing, cutting, and gluing can be very engaging. This October, my daughter made a spider, a black cat, and more in class. We've also been enjoying these activities at home!

Pumpkin Patch Adventures

Pick pumpkins, enjoy hayrides, or explore a corn maze. They may have a mini-zoo too. You can also take photos in Halloween outfits! It's great for a family day.

Make Halloween fun and simple!
