First time with Zipair Tokyo Airline.

Zipair is a low-cost airline from Japan, based at Narita International Airport. It started in 2018 and operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan Airlines. Our first time experience flying with Zipair exceeded expectations, as the airline offers commendable service at competitive rates. Ticket prices are notably economical compared to other carriers, with additional services such as seat selection, insurance, baggage handling, in-flight meals, and amenities available as optional extras.

I added some extra services, such as additional bags (30kg for checked luggage + 8kg for carry-ons). The check-in counters exactly open 3 hours before the flight. The staff at the counter were really friendly. They even had a nice chat with my daughter about enjoying Japan. Zipair also participates in TSA precheck, so we didn't have to bother with removing shoes or any extra hassle, which made the process quick and smooth. I recommend getting TSA precheck if you travel often or with children. Boarding Zipair was a breeze and well-organized. We were able to move ahead in line because we were traveling with children.

Zipair provides economy seats and full-flat seats that are like those in business class. The seating layout is 3-3-3, and the seats are modern and clean. Despite my husband being tall, he was impressed by the ample leg space in the economy seats. They offer more space compared to seats we've experienced on other airlines. Each seat is equipped with a small table for an iPad and a water bottle, along with charging ports, although there are no TV screens, so make sure to download your movies beforehand. The standout feature is the complimentary onboard Wi-Fi, although it can be a bit slow at times.

In addition to adding extra bags, I also opted for in-flight meals and an amenity set (A) which included a cozy blanket, sleep mask, slippers, and an inflatable neck pillow, along with the Shiroi Koibito white chocolate. Unfortunately, I forgot to snap a picture of the food, but it was tasty. My daughter was still hungry, so I purchased some additional snacks at reasonable prices. If you haven't pre-booked meals, you can easily order them using a QR code during the flight, which is super convenient!

Flying with a budget airline such as Zipair does come with its fair share of restrictions and limitations. Nevertheless, Zipair pleasantly surprised us with their friendly and punctual staff, excellent service, all at a fantastic price. We paid approximately $700 per person for a flight from Honolulu to Narita Airport, which also included some extra services. I highly recommend considering Zipair for your travels. Just remember to plan ahead! :)
