What To Wear in Spring.
Springtime in Japan usually brings cherry blossoms and sunny days perfect for exploring, although this year, not many Sakura trees bloomed in March due to the cold weather. But regardless, be ready for anything—mornings can be chilly, afternoons are mild, and rain showers might surprise you. To be honest, we weren't prepared. Coming from a warm place caught us off guard. Everyone said pack light, so we only brought one jacket each. Big mistake! It wasn't enough to keep us warm, especially when it rained. We spent the last two weeks of March in Japan, and let me tell you, the weather was changeable - - temperature ranging from 6°C to 15°C (42.8°F to 59°F). Here are my simple tips on what to wear, pack and those must-have extras.

When packing, choose flexible clothes you can mix and match for different looks on your travels. Layering is key - I brought one jacket to Japan and bought extra layers there. Just know that everyone's different when it comes to tolerating weather. I easily feel cold, so I sometimes need gloves, especially in the rain. But there were also times when I felt hot indoors, like on trains or in malls. So, always remember to layer up!
Tops: Opt for long-sleeve tops like sweaters, turtlenecks, or thermals as base layers for spring’s weather. They're versatile and ensure you're prepared for any temperature changes!
Bottoms: Stick to just a few bottoms like cargo pants, trousers, and jeans when you're traveling. They're comfy and practical.
Light Layers: A fleece jacket, cardigan, or lightweight coat are must-haves for layering, and they're super easy to pack. I usually stick to neutral colors—they go with everything!
Jackets & Coats: Consider getting packable nano puff jackets or even oversized fleece jackets. They're quite the trend in Japan and perfect for keeping warm on rainy or cold nights.
Comfy Shoes & Sneakers: I love my Samba and V2K sneakers, especially during our trip to Japan. They're super comfy, though I noticed my Samba tends to slip on wet surfaces. Almost fell a few times in train stations because of it!
Accessories (Scarves, Hats & Gloves): Pack these if you easily get cold like me. I ended up buying gloves in Japan because it was colder than I expected.
When heading to Japan, packing light is the way to go since you'll probably bring back more than you came with. But make sure you've got your basics covered, like clothes for both warmer days and chillier nights. Being ready for any weather can make your trip stress-free!
Tips and Extras:
Sun Protection: Remember to use sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun when you're outside.
Essential Moisture: Lip balm and hand lotion are absolute essentials. Cracked lips and dry hands are no fun. Make sure to have these on hand—they're everyday must-haves!
Umbrella or Raincoat: Grab an umbrella or raincoat from any nearby convenience store to stay prepared for the unpredictable weather.
